Lieut in the Field 3/11/1917. 16/3/1918 On Course. 20/4/1918 to Grantham - course of instruction in Machine Gunnery. 6/7/1918 RA Base Depot, Salonika. Post-war, served 8(Special) Bn MGC, Grogan's Bde, Archangel. Medical Board - disability June 1919 (Russia) admitted 53 SH - evacuated UK. Arrived 5/8/1919 Operation June 1919 and Oct 1919. Died 3 London Gen Hosp, Wandsworth 4/12/1919, disease - Perinephritic Abcess, Toxemia Syncope.;Other Notes: PURCHASE, Lieutenant, ARTHUR JAMES, West Yorkshire Regt. (Prince of Wales's Own) attd. Machine Gun Corps (Inf). Died of wounds 4th December 1919. Age 28. Son of Benjamin and Mary Ann Purchase, of Farnham; husband of Annie Purchase, of I, St. George's Terrace, St. George's Rd., Farnham. L. 664. Farnham Civil Cemetery - Surrey, United Kingdom.;
