Letter of P[eter] Parker, Bassingbourne Hall, Takeley, Essex to Edward Dowling, Aldermanbury, London, member of the Country Stewards' Lodge, thanking the latter for his letter and apologising for not presiding at the Country Feast of the Board of Country Stewards due to his duties as Deputy Lieutenant and Magistrate at Dunmow, Essex. No other Deputy Lieutenant was available and therefore Parker needs to attend.

Country Steward's Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge on 25 July 1789 and met as No. 540 at the Guildhall Coffee House, Gresham Street, London. In 1790 the Lodge moved to the Freemasons' Tavern, Great Queen Street, London. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 449 in 1792. The Lodge made its last payment in 1799 and lapsed about 1802.
