Copy will of William Groves of Wotherton, Chirbury, gent.
He has heretofore given considerable sums to his daughters Mary, Sarah, and Martha. He gives all his household goods and furniture, plate and plated articles, beds, linen, china, glass, brewing and dairy utensils and all other the household goods and effects he has at his death to his wife Anne Groves.
All freehold houses and lands at Priest Weston, Chirbury & c and all his farming stock, implements of husbandry, hay, grain, crops of corn and grain and all other personal estate and effects (not given to his wife) to his brother Robert Groves of Rockley, parish of Churchstoke, farmer, and his, the testator's, relation, Samuel Groves of Heightley, Chirbury, farmer, on trust that they after the testator's death, shall sell all his freehold and personal property of a saleable nature and execute conveyances, the money arising to be held by them on trust to pay off all mortgage money and interest secured on the premises, and all debts and funeral expenses, and then to invest £600 on good freehold security or in the purchase of Parliamentary stocks producing interest or dividends half yearly to be paid to his wife Anne Groves for her life for her maintenance and for the maintenance of the testator's son Samuel Groves and his daughter Anne Groves - if his wife dies before Samuel, son and daughter Anne, then to pay the interest of the £600 towards their maintenance during their joint lives. If one of them dies before his wife, then the trustees to call up £300 part of the £600 and to pay the £300 among William, Robert, Michael, Edward, Joseph and Margaret, 6 of the testator's children; the trustees to continue the remaining £300 at interest during the life of the survivor of son Sam. and daughter Anne, and apply the interest for the maintenance of such survivor for life, and on his death to call and receive the said £300 and pay it in equal shares among William, Robert, Michael, Edward, Joseph, Margaret, Mary, Sarah and Martha, 9 of his children.
Out of the residue of money from the sale - to his son Wm £388 to his sons Robert, Michael, Edward and Joseph £200 each; to daughter Margaret £100; remainder to be paid by trustees in equal shares among the said 9 children, and if any of them die, his share to go to the issue of such child - to be paid to the 9 children at 21 with interest at 4% p.a. during their minority.
He appoints his brother Robert Groves, and Samuel Groves executors.
