A Lodge meeting in the East Devon Militia was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 228B [SN 1603] on 31 October 1812. It was described as "North Hants Militia," in the Grand Lodge Proceedings on 2 December 1812. But the next minutes on 3 March 1813 note an error in the last quarterly communications that Lodge No. 228, North Hants Militia, Gosport, should state North Devon Militia. The Lodge number became No. 286 in 1814, after the union between the Antients' and Moderns' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England. The Lodge ceased to meet and was erased on 30 August 1821.
