Microfilm copy of a ts memoir (121pp), written in 1972, of his experiences while serving as a despatch rider with the 9th Corps HQ Royal Engineers Signal Company at Gallipoli (August - December 1915), where he describes landing on 7 August at 'C' Beach, Suvla Bay, being involved in an artillery demonstration for the Corps Commander, and making his motorcycle journeys to other headquarters and Casualty Clearing Stations around Suvla as well as GHQ on Imbros, with a single despatch run to Cape Helles where he witnessed more warlike activity than shown in the north of the Peninsula; then following the general evacuation from Gallipoli, service with the renamed Desert Mounted Corps in Egypt and Palestine (January 1916 - May 1919), where he was involved in the successful attack on Beersheba, accompanied the armoured cars at the capture of Nazareth and entered Damascus shortly after its occupation, referring to the use of Field Punishment No 1, motorcycling in the desert, the indiscipline of Australian troops, the horrors of modern warfare, and a meeting with T E Lawrence.
