Administrative / biographical background

Cirencester Theatre Club was founded to foster an interest in the live theatre by arranging visits to see plays (see D8570/1/2 for the rules and constitution of the club). Members mostly visited local theatres but had occasional visits to London. The club was wound up in February 2000 due to lack of nominations for the positions of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. The assets of the club were donated to three local theatrical organisations (see D8570/1/2; for correspondence with these groups).
