Description

The Commentary of Saint Athanasius on Psalm XLV. With translation and notes, showing the use of a Greek Gematria'. A paper by Thomas Simcox Lea (1857-1939), biblical exegete and botanist. Dated 29 Jan. 1925. Typescript. Lea was the author of 'The Hypothesis of a Greek Gematria in the Early Christian Church' (Exmouth, 1929); 'Further examples of Greek Christian Gematria' (Exmouth, 1929); 'A preliminary investigation of the cabala contained in the Coptic Gnostic books and of a similar Gematria in the Greek text of the New Testament', (Oxford, 1917), and other works. He was Vicar of St. Austell, Cornwall, 1910-23.
