Recital lease and release of 18 & 19 November 1742 (1514/575) The rest of the personal estate of Clare Smythe, after deducting £2000 for Sir Edward Smythe, has been disposed of thus:- £4000 lent on mortgage to the Farl of Fauconberg, decd, and the rest laid out in the purchase of £4000 3% reduced Bank Annuities in the names of Sir Edward Smythe and Sir Edward Gascoyne. Sir Edward Gascoyne died in 1750, Peter Giffard died 1746, Marmaduke late Lord Langdale, father, died in 1771, Elizabeth Lady Langdale died 1765. The sd Lord Langdale, party, had only 3 daughters by Constantia and unlikely to have any male issue by her. He has applied to her to give him her contingent right to the annual produce of £8000. He therefore revokes and alters all uses in the settlement in order to make provision of an equivalent amount for her, and for their 3 daughters. Settlement of the Yorkshire and Staffordshire property.
