Description

Letter from Daniel Price to his uncle Rev. R.J.Davies.

He has received his of 28th March and obtained the following receipts as requested:

Margaret Price for ½ share of Aunt's legacy. £171.3.8

Sarah Price for ½ share of Aunt's legacy. 171.3.8

Amelia Price for ½ share of Aunt's legacy. 171.3.8

R.S.Kay husband of Fanny Price for ½ share of Aunt's legacy. 171.3.8

Marquis Niccolini husband of Catherine Price for the same 171.3.8

Total. 855.18.4

Which sum is the full amount to be divided, & of which Davies at present holds £844.12.6, the balance of £11.5.10 being already accounted for by Davies.

He begs him to pay on his (Price's) account to his cousin Charles Snape £511.3. and the balance £33.9. 6 to Price's bankers, with the interest.

He now starts his letter afresh, having completed the business part of which he has kept a copy.

His unmarried sisters have their money in his hands, and he lent the £511.3. to Charles Snape who has a good opportunity of buying a practice.

He has a high opinion of Charles steadiness and knows he cannot advance in his profession without some assistance has great pleasure in rendering this small assistance to him. Situated as he is "even the improbable event of a total loss would not much inconvenience" him. He found his sisters looking very unwell, but fancies he sees an improvement in the last few days - they felt their loss deeply and dread the future.

They are yet uncertain about Amelia's marriage, but Daniel thinks it desirable that it take place as soon as possible, his "father is so uncertain a man".

P.S. He will tell Charles to write to Davies.

Written from Florence, directed to Aberhafesp.
