To the Right Honorable the Commissioners for the Affairs of India, this Improved Map Of India, With Original Notes And Road Book, are by permission, most respectfully inscribed by John B. Seely Capt. Bombay Army, late Military Secretary to the Government of India. London, Published by J. M. Richardson, Cornhill, & Geo. B. Whittaker, Ave Maria Lane, January 1st 1826. Scale approximately 1:4,000,000. Inset: Route From India To Europe. As travelled by Mr. Forster. 'Scale of 300 Geographical Miles' [=0.86 inches]. Inset: Bombay To Alexandria Via Suez & Cairo. 'The former vide Road Book.' Scale approximately 1:6,000,000. Inset: Two Travelled Routes, 1st To Constantinople, 2nd Via Bagdad & Aleppo To Cyprus. Scale approximately 1:9,000,000. Apparently signed by Seely. 'Historical and Statistical Illustrations of Countries, Rivers, Cities, and Towns, &c. on the Western or Bombay Side of India; from Original Notes commenced in 1809', as printed gazetteer text, mounted at the right side of the map. 'Historical and Statistical Illustrations of Countries, Rivers, Cities, and Towns, &c. on the Eastern or Gangetic Side of India; from Original Notes commenced in 1809', as printed gazetteer text, mounted at the left side of the map, with note 'Cities, Towns, &c. under the Madras Presidency, will be found in the Road Book.'.
