Description of accident: Slipped on steep incline and twisted his left knee
Further information: The claimant injured his right knee on 16 January 1950 as a result of slipping on a steep incline and falling on his knees. He attended the Miners' Rehabilitation Centre at Berry Hill Hall between 3 April 1950 and 28 April 1950. He had an operation on 15 March 1950 at Derby Royal Infirmary to remove the torn cartilage. He returned to light work on 9 May 1950 and 'returned to boring 2 weeks after I.P. Derbys Royal Infirmary' according to the Initial medical report dated 7 June 1950. The loss of faculty was set at 5 per cent. The claimant's grounds for appeal dated 6 March 1951 on the Notice of Appeal were that '[...] I have difficulty in kneeling at times and walking.' The decision of the tribunal was to uphold the decision of the Medical Board on 19 June 1950 that there is a loss of faculty but not as a result of the relevant accident.
