12 Thomas Cotton and Thomas Fane, knights, Thomas Wotton, esq., and other Justices at the General Session at Maidstone on Tuesday after the close of Easter, [9th April, 1583], according to statute, assessed the parishioners of Elmsted to contribute to the relief of poor prisoners in the gaol of Canterbury castle 2d. each week; and Edmund Cloke of Elmsted, yeoman, churchwarden of Elmsted, should have paid on or before the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, [24th June, 1600] to Thomas Boys and John Kennett, Constables of the Hundred of Stowtinge, in which Elmsted lies, 6s. 4d. for money so assessed for thirty-eight weeks to the said day, but he has not so paid it or any part of it.
13 Similarly against Thomas Francklyn and Thomas Graunte of Eythorne, yeomen, churchwardens of Eythorne, for non-payment of 6s. 4d. to Richard Huffam and Mathew Attwell, Constables of the Hundred of Wingham, due for thirty-eight weeks to the Nativity of St. John Baptist, [24th June, 1600].

14 Mathew Gybbons of Westcliffe, yeoman, churchwarden of Westcliffe, for non-payment of 3s. 2d. to Henry Stokes and Richard Burden, Constables of the Hundred of Bewsborough.
15 James Jekyn of Oxney, yeoman, churchwarden of Oxney, for non-payment of 3s. 2d. to Henry Stokes and Richard Burden.

16 Abraham Upton of St. Margaret-at-Cliffe, yeoman, churchwarden of that parish, for non-payment of 3s. 2d. to Henry Stokes and Richard Burden.

18 Thomas Boxley and Thomas Strowde of Elham, yeomen, churchwardens of that parish, for non-payment of 9s. 6d. to Nicholas Ladd and Thomas Warman, constables of Hundred of Loningborough.
19 William Toms of Acrise, yeoman, churchwarden of that parish, for non-payment of 3s. 2d. to Nicholas Ladd and Thomas Warman.
20 Samuel George and John Hart of Westbere, yeomen, churchwardens of that parish, for non-payment of 3s. 2d. to John Welby and William Allen, constables of the Hundred of Bleangate, etc.
21 Thornix Wells, constable of Hundred of Aloesbridge for non-payment of 12s. 8d. to [blank] May, Receiver of money for the Gaol and wounded soldiers.
22 Richard Harvie, Constable of Hundred of Eastry, for non-payment of 6s. 11d. to [blank] May, Receiver of money etc.
23 Inquisition taken at the General Session by the oath of John Robins, Mathew Atwell, William Stringer, .............................. , .............. Combe, Robert Attwood, John Bate, John Glover, Robert Watyer, Thomas Brooke, Thomas Watson, Thomas ................................ Burvill and John Austen, Jurors for the Hundred of Eastry and others, that on 20th July, 1600, and for three weeks before, a quarter of barley was sold in Kent for 26s. and no more, so that, in accordance with the assize of beer by common custom established a gallon of the best ale and beer and more should have been sold at fourpence, and pro rata; but Anthony Lumpkyn of Eastry, tippler, on 20th July, 1600, and during the three weeks before, at Eastry, sold beer by a smaller measure than the quart, that is containing no more than a pint and a half, and not amounting to a quarter of a gallon, for one penny, and so broke the assize.

Augustine Turneley of Godmersham and Philip Burchett of the same who acknowledged before Stephen Thornehurst, knight, Justice of the Peace, that they owed certain sums to the Queen, ask that their appearance be recorded and it is so recorded.
John Croocheman under order from Assizes to appear here, appeared and was discharged because nothing was objected against him in breaking the bastardy order made against him.
