The subject areas are reflected in the rough categorization of the volumes; Theology Volumes 1-7, 11-15 Philosophy Volumes 8-10, 16 Physiology Volumes 17-19 Science Volumes 20-34 Miscellaneous Volumes 35-46 Boyles's writings vary in size and importance from slips bearing notes and aphorisms to drafts of published an incomplete works (including 'The Christian Virtuoso'). Not all are in Boyle's hand, as he employed several secretaries; in addition, multiple copies or drafts of some papers are common
