A series of twenty-five articles written in instalments by Sir Alexander Hosie, under the general heading Travels Abroad. The articles give an account of a world tour, undertaken 1919-20, taking in Canada, Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India, and returning to Sandown, the Isle of Wight.

The articles are as follows: (1) Without title, beginning: "In accordance with my promise I am sending you some rough notes of our journey to the Far East which may be of interest to you, the readers of the 'Chronicle' and more especially our friends in Sandown and the Island generally. We left London at 9.45 a.m. on Friday, the 15th August, by the boat train for Liverpool..."; (2) Impressions of Niagara; (3) At the Rockie Mountains and on to Yokohama; (4) Among the Japanese and on to Corea; (5) The Tragedies of Seoul; (6) The Homes and Dresses of the Coreans; (7) The Industries of Antung; (8) Up the Ya-lu River in a 10-ton Junk; (9) Through Manchuria on to Tientsin; (10) Commandeered For Service in the British Legation; (11) The Fruit Preserving Industry of China; (12) At the Tomb of Manchu Monarchs; (13) A Weird Journey in Muled Litters; (14) From Peking to Canton; (15) Sir John Jordan Honoured at Hong Kong; (16) Life in Singapore; (17) Embarking Elephants at Penang; (18) Buddhist Temples of Rangoon - Arrival at Calcutta; (19) Impressions of Calcutta; (20) More Impressions of Calcutta; (21) Industries of Calcutta; (22) More About Indian Industries; (23) Departure from Calcutta; (24) The Indian Cotton Industry; (25) Back in England: "During this trip round the world, which I have thus roughly described, we have been alternately frozen, grilled and roasted and we have returned home chastened in mind and body and resolved never again to grumble overmuch at the climate of Old England." The final instalment is dated 29 May, 1920.
