Description

Mortgage: Sir Robert Legard, knt., a master in chancery, of the first part, Sir Thomas Barker of Lyndin, co. Rutland, bart., executor of will of Chris. Dighton, late of Middle Temple, London, gent., deceased, of the second part, and James Windebank of Somerset House, Strand, gent., of the third part: recites a lease, dated 17th February 1685, to Richard Pope, trustee for Anne, Countess of Naoburgh, of a messuage, called Mr. Chiffins House, fronting St. James Park, for 61 years, at rent of £60 yearly, which premises became vested in Sir Robert Hamilton, bart., who by indenture dated 3rd June 1689, for £1000 assigned the lease and premises for residue of the said term to Chris. Dighton, who on 21st May 1699 mortgaged the same for £1500 to Sir Robert Legard, and whereas the sum of £600 still remains owing upon the securities to said Robert Legard, he in consideration of the payment to him of that sum by James Windebank assigns the lease and premises to the latter for the residue of the 61 years.
