Description (What the record is about)
-
I.C.I. Ltd, Welwyn Garden City
½ page, typescript
Is enclosing paper giving an account of their work on the crystal structure of polyethylene terephthalate. Asks if Bragg would submit it to the Royal Society for publication in the Proceedings. They were able to index nearly all the X-ray reflexions unambiguously and were able to use Fourier methods for refinement. "It brings polymer crystallography nearer to the standards of single crystal work." The name "Terylene" has been avoided because it is not used as a substance name, but is reserved for the fibre form.
