Joseph Barber to Richd. How (in Crown Court, Gracious St.) Thine this morning has extorted the enclosed to Mercy [Briggins] which with much pains I have wrote. I have been much ill since I saw thee & continue so my vomiting as usual .... gloomy prospect which I cannot but foresee attends her living so near my father & mother whose notions thee knowst differ so widely from my own - Don't be too uneasy at your people's anxiety for the new affair.
