40 horse power double-acting crank engine, with [32½ inch cylinder], 6 foot stroke, parallel motion, [cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod].Reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses and boilers, showing location of granary, connection to millwork etc., plan of the cold water cistern, plan of the tunnel covering stones - these drawings were made in the London Office and do not bear letter codes; plans and sections of steam and feed pipes etc. - original and reverse drawings marked "This plan altered, see another drawing OHR"; altered plan and section of steam and feed pipes - original and reverse drawings; later plans of engine and boiler houses - reverse drawings. All the drawings except the first set bear letter codes.
Also later drawings: sketch of additional cistern (not dated); air pump delivery valve - coloured original and reverse drawings, 7 Mar. 1862; plan and sections of new boilers on tracing paper, Jan. 1868; tracing of valve [?], Feb. 1868; plan and sections of new boilers - coloured original and coloured reverse drawings, Feb. 1868; sketches of foot valve and blocks, Feb. 1870; drawings of bottom valve on tracing paper, Feb. 1871. Most of these drawings bear letter codes.Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 947. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 86.
For Curries & Co. Brewery, Bromley. The firm had previously bought a 20 horse boat engine in 1825 [see Portfolio 5/1062] and a 25 horse boat engine in 1839 [see Portfolio 5/1063].
