The Anglo-American Relief Fund was a private charity helping mainly under-priveleged London and Plymouth children during World War II. Funds were largely financed privately by American citizens and later were boosted by aid from the American Government. The Fund continued until c1958.
The Fund ran 7 nurseries [Glos., Hants., and Wilts.,] during the War and a hostel for children aged. 5-8. Three of the nurseries were run for children from bombed districts of Plymouth, the remaining four for London children.
After the War the charity was named 'Anglo-American Relief Fund for London Children and Mothers Limited'.]
