Administrative / biographical background

St. Luke's church, Caversham Road, Kingstanding was designed by P.J. Hunt and consecrated in 1937. The parish was assigned out of St. John, Perry Barr in 1933. In 1948 a further part of St. John Perry Barr was transferred to St. Luke whilst part of the parish (St Luke's) was assigned to Boldmere, St. Michael. The living, a perpetual curacy from 1933 until 1939 when it became a vicarage, is in the gift of the crown and bishop alternately. All Saints mission church, Oscott was transferred in 1948 from St. John, Perry Barr.
