Concerns: his intentions to ride back to Londesborough with Lord Hartington; Eardly Wilmot being due to visit and likely to give them grief according to Mr Heathcote; Alex Barker's belief that it will be possible to prove smitham had been looted in Winster and the Duke of Rutland's steward's account that the barmaster had tithed it; dinner with Mr Vernon, a son of the Lord Chief Justice Leigh and Mr Boothby before he returned to Derby for the musting; Mr Vernon and Lord Gower still making amends; George and Freddy hunting with Mr Bagshaw; venison sent to Col. Dury; Quinn's mare (from Polly) being handsome and a fine mover. Written from Chatsworth. Signed 'Devonshire'.
