As an enemy attack was expected, he volunteered to proceed to Coy HQ, a distance of 200 yards and procure a new gun, which he succeeded in doing, passing twice through a heavy barrage." (Immediate Award) Recommended by Major A Rome, OC "C" Coy 55 Bn MGC, Lt Col HW Bolton, Cdg 55 Bn MGC and Brig Kelly, Cdg 2 Inf Bde. Signed by HS Jeudwine, Maj Gen, Cdg 55 Div
