'The Rough General Chart of the Islands: Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sercq [Sark], Herm with ye [the] Rocks, Shoals, Soudnings and Tides in their vicinity upon the Principles of Gerrad Mercator'. 'Supplement to the Chart lodged in the Hydrographical Office in September 1815'. Chart shows coastline, hydrography, settlements, land marks, sight lines, remarks (including table of courses and distances and 'of the Error in the direction of ye[the] meridian as deduced from teh Sun') and explanatory key. Includes decorative cartouche depicting drapes, vegetation, a lion and birds. Includes illustrations of ships, decortive compass indicators and crown with the motto 'Vivant Rer et Regina'. Colour manuscript. Latitude and longitude indicated; north point with compass indication and magnetic north variation (variation dated in remarks, May 1813). Scale: 24.5 inches to [number not specified] English Miles. 'undertaken in the year 1812 by Captain Martin White Royal Navy per order of the Right Honourable The Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty'
