Congratulates RG on tracing the great Johnson's poem. Discusses coffee and the Guestling arms. The servants mean to celebrate VE Day, and have hunted out the flags made for the coronation. CA does not feel like celebrating, because of Russia. David Boxall is in hospital in Herefordshire with neuritis. Rolf Elwes, a co-trustee with Dick [John Richard Bickersteth], has written from Germany and says that it is dreadful to see the pride and hatred written on the German faces.
