Description

The Barton items are mainly deeds and papers relating mainly to the township of High Barton. They include Overseer's papers, 18th cent. (D CC 3/10), and two sketch-maps c. 1800 (D CC 3/11). Kirkbarrow (Barton) was part of the estate sold with Carleton itself by Lord Wallace to John Cowper in 1828.
