John Alfred ('Jack') and Annie were married in 1913 (see Sutton in Ashfield parish register PR/9823 p85) and emigrated with children Hilda and Howard around the early 1930's. The letters chronicle the harsh conditions and difficulties they faced including Jack's death in 1934
