This organisation was formed after the visit of the Secretary of the (national) Provincial Typographical Association to Burnley in April 1871. As a branch of the National Graphical Association, the successor to the TA, it came to cover the areas of Burnley, Colne, Earby, Nelson and Padiham. Difficulties in finding a secretary led to its amalgamation with the Blackburn Graphical Society in March 1981: this became the North Lancashire Graphical Society and, in 1993, merged with the Lancashire and Lakes Graphical Society to form the North Lancashire Branch of the Graphical, Paper and Media Union, with headquarters in Blackburn.
