Description

Includes: 4 letters, one from the Duke of Buckingham, relating to executors' claims to an abatement of the rent paid by A.C. [Jr] as tenant to the Duke which the Duke had refused to allow because of Chaplin's neglect of the property ("Does Colonel Browne think that a tenant who like Major Chaplin has never ceased misusing my farm ... has the same claim upon me as good and fair-dealing tenants?") 1820-25; correspondence with R. Browne and Acton Chaplin, jun. about executorship accounts, 1821-27; inventory of furniture in Acton Chaplin's house in Walton Street, Aylesbury, 1814, and valuation of farm stock, etc., 1814-20; copy will of A.C. dated, 1813-14; draft deeds, etc., of warehouse and yard adjoining Bull's Head P.H., Aylesbury (stated to have been purchased by A.C. in 1804 for the purpose of providing votes in parliamentary elections) and other property of A.C. in Aylesbury and district; printed sale particulars of estate of Francis Fleet, bankrupt, in Aylesbury, etc. 1823.
