Indian photographs of Frank Holland and other material

Collection comprising photographs and papers relating to the life of Frank and Edith Holland in India (and elsewhere) and a snapshot album compiled by an unidentified soldier in India. Frank Holland went to India in 1916 as weaving master at the Muir Mills Company at Cawnpore, and appears to have remained in the subcontinent until the 1940s. He died in Southport in 1971. His wife Edith lived for a period in old age with the parents of the donor of the material and gave the Holland photographs to them. The compiler of the album of military snapshots is unknown, but does not appear to have any connection to the Hollands. The collection is divied into four parts as follows:. Photo 1351/1. Folios from two disbound photograph albums, recording the life in India of Frank and Edith Holland (also containing a few views of Singapore, Burma and Europe), 1920s-40s. Photo 1351/3. Loose prints collected by Frank Holland. A collection of 73 snapshots, plus 8 larger prints which duplicate or have been extracted from the material in Photo 1351/2. Photo 1351/4. Snapshot album compiled by an unidentified soldier serving in Indi, 1920s-30s.
