In December 1976 the Board for Mission and Unity was asked by the Secretary-General to collect materials relevant to the issue of the Ordination of Women on behalf of the General Synod. Information about ordination in other Anglican Provinces and other churches was specifically requested, as was evidence of new decisions on the matter. A memorandum of March 1980 from Daphne Fraser indicates the papers were originally organised as follows: A Series: General B Series: Books C Series: press cuttings The material was available for consultation, and could be copied on request.
