The Signature of the recipient is torn off and there is a note. 'NB the Name torn off viz before son Laz rec'd it with ye rest of ye writings which was July 20 1753. J.V.'
Pinned to it a letter from Lazarus Venables 21 July 1753 addressed to Mr. Venables, Oswestry and subscribed 'Hon'd Father', your most Dutiful Son'.
Most of theletter has been torn off deliberately, leaving complete one sentence 'I'll give you good news. Yesterday I received the Rodmeadow writings and have 'em now in my Custody, the whole expence was half a crown to the late Mr. Lloyd's Servant, and another half crown to Mr. Wm. Lloyd's clerk. There is no more to pay' and after a gap, another 'I can't give you any Account what Writings they are having only had a superficial View of them yet. There are about twenty parchment deeds and the papers in the Chancery Cause'.
