The Christian Social Council Committee on Gambling was formed in 1933. It was known as the Churches' Committee on Gambling from 1938, and became the Churches' Council on Gambling in 1957. It was composed of representatives of the Church of England, the Free Churches, and other bodies. The Council was dissolved in 1978.
