Description (What the record is about)
-
In 1837 John Webb Woolgar of the Cliff, gent, at the request of John Bein, carpenter mortgaged a piece of ground, part of Dobells Field, with 2 houses abutting Bouverie Street on the east, which had been recently built, to Richard Porter of the Cliffe, currier. Porter died in 1858 leaving the property to his son John Porter and others and Bein died in 1867 leaving his interest to his daughter Elizabeth Roberts Bein. By 1887 the mortgage was repaid and Elizabeth sold the property to John Penfold Morris, Post Office clerk, who mortgaged it to Frederick Heaver Hoey in 1887 and Miss Ann Eliza Hoey in 1893.
