Description (What the record is about)
-
The Association was set up in 1969 as the Heathfield Community Centre Project, later called the Heathfield and Waldron Community Association. The objects of the association were to advance education and provide facilities for recreation and leisure in Heathfield and Waldron, and to establish a community centre. A combined Health and Community Centre was opened in Sheepsetting Lane in 1990, using funds raised by HWCA, also Eastbourne Health Authority and the parish council. The HWCA managed the community centre initially, but this responsibility was handed over to Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council in 1999. The HWCA then continued as a grant-giving body, before being disbanded in 2004. for a pamphlet concerning the establishment of the HWCA, see AMS 6785/5/4
