Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in carrying out a successful machine gun barrage under the most trying circumstances. The position was continually shelled throughout the time the barrage was fired and its success was greatly due to the good example set by this officer. Later on in the day, an SOS call was successfully answered although only two unwounded men remained to each gun. Throughout the whole operation he showed great coolness and kept his men steady under the most adverse circumstances.;
