Violet Gilchrist, the donor's mother, born in 1894 in London was one of three children. She worked for the telephone exchange on leaving school until she married in 1923. Her husband Herbert Peever (born in 1891) one of 10 children. His father and later his mother, ran a dairy farm and milk delivery round in Holme Lane, Oxton, Birkenhead. Herbert became a solicitor's clerk. After their marriage Violet and Herbert settled in Birkenhead and had two children Brian (born 1926) and Constance (the donor).
