Salt Tax
Application in writing by John Mills of Mevagissey, fish curer, for warrant requiring collector of taxes at Liverpool to cancel bond entered into by Rathbone Hughes and Duncan of Liverpool, merchants, concerning shipping of 3,535 bushels of British fishery salt on board the brigantine 'Coaster' of Bideford, in Devon, of which John Pill the master, and Philip Brayley, mate. Salt shipped at Liverpool on 16 May last to carry to Gorran, in port of Fowey. Vessel left Liverpool on 23 May and arrived Mevagissey 2 June. On voyage vessel shipped water and lost 151 bushels 40lbs. of salt: bond to be cancelled.
