Description

Acts, letters from various government offices (departments) and individuals, most of which relate to the despatches sent from the governor in CO 137/355-57.

Acts: Correspondence regarding Act no. 4351, 'an Act to make further provision for immigration into this island'.

Offices: Admiralty, Council Office, Foreign Office, Law Office, Miscellaneous Offices (West India Committee, General Post Office, Royal Gardens, West Indian Incumbered Estates Commission, Office of Commissioners in Lunacy, Committee of the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, International Exhibition), Board of Trade, Treasury, and War Office.

Individuals: Braine Abbot (regarding will of John Layton), Major General Charles Ashmore, Rev. Charles Angell, Rev. Dr. F. Bradshaw, G.B. Brooks, John Birmingham, Rev. Dr. Bradshaw, Mrs. Clare Jane Bell, Rev. William Caird, Messrs. Carrie and Williams, Miss. H. Curtis, John Davis, Henry Dunlop, Sir. Bryan Edwards, Robert Emery, Fearon & Claborne, Messrs, Charles Harvey, Thomas Hanbrey (regarding Charles Michael Jopp), Bishop of Jamaica, John Jennings, Francis Herbert James, Edward John, Mrs. Harriot Keech (regarding actions of Dr. Keech, and case of Elizabeth Fowles, brought by Dr. Bowerbank), Bishop of Kingston, Felix Kingvale, J. Lindo, Kennedy Mcnab, William Mollan (regarding death of David Mollan), George McKenzie, John William McKenzie, William Kelly Smith and Alex R. Jeffries (petition for employment in colonial government) [the latter two filed under 'Negroes' rather than under their individual names].
