Nature of request
1) Copy of a writ of Edward II to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer commanding them that thence having information of the service done by Chesterfield in various counties, that they make satisfaction to him for his expenses according to their discretion. Chesterfield was sent in the king's service to various counties to assess amercements for the king's use in the 8th, 9th and 11th years for which he was to receive his reasonable expenses.2) Chesterfield similarly pleads for a writ to the treasurer and barons for his expenses concerning the assessment of amercements of the Bench in the harvest-time of the 13th and 14th years in various counties of England whereof Norwich and Stanton promised him allowance.

The petition is dated to c. 1321 as the transcript of the writ is dated in its dating clause to 12 March, 12 [Edw. II] (1319), and the following request indicates that the document is slightly after this date and refers to service in 13 and 14 [Edw. II].
