Carteret to Stair: Stair is to set the army in motion in accordance with his plan. He encloses a paper [SP 87/10/132] from the king on the disposition of the troops. Stair's armies are only to act as auxiliaries to the Austrians. Hume appointed commissary. He is to instruct Lieutenant General Clayton with his plan of march and then send him back to report to the king. The Austrians must place a sufficient garrison in Ostend.
