Newcastle to Cumberland: the lords justices have approved Newcastle's decision to detain the troops at Flushing. Serious threat posed by the young pretender and his friends. He encloses a letter to Crauford and Mordaunt [SP 87/18/42] instructing them to return 4 of the Ostend battalions to England. Danger of attack by French and Spanish naval forces. Release of allied prisoners. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. ff. 85-88
