Date
9 February 1759
Description

Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to Holdernesse: the imperial court is negotiating with the Catholic electors for their consent to the imperial ban, without regard to what it calls formalities. It is doubtful whether they will succeed: the bishop of Mainz for one is against it. An intercepted letter shows that Contades plans to return to the Rhine. The French refer to the fall of Frankfurt as something that will reverse the plans of the Prussians and Hanoverians. Imperial troops are advancing into Hesse, but the French remain quiet on the Main. Dated at Münster. ff. 13, 14
