Note
C 1/19/483 gives a slightly different version of events: according to it, the two merchants were arrested by the Duke, through his servant Thomas Ayton, at Plymouth on the Monday after Pentecost 27 Henry VI (2 June 1449), that they were delivered into the keeping of Peryn Baker and William Romand on 12 July, and Thomas and John Payn took them by force on 7 October, for the mayor, sheriff, bailiffs and community of Southampton. This would suggest a date of c. 1450 for the petition.CPR 1446-52 p.432 is dated at Westminster, 14 November 1450.
