Some files have been re-registered from earlier series used by Mintech's International and General Secretariat.

This particular tranche of files in the PG file series was raised in 1969, probably around the time that responsibility for the Department's interest in parliamentary select committees passed from International and General Secretariat Division to Air C and Secretariat Division. The files themselves show signs of re-registration from the GS and IG prefixes.

The Advisory Council on Technology (ACT) was set up in 1964 to advise on the application of advanced technology to those British industries for which Mintech was responsible. The Council, which normally met four or five times a year, was terminated in 1970.
