In addition to using the Land Revenue Office as a repository for enrolments and deposits made under various statutes, the Commissioners of Woods and their successors transferred to it from time to time such of their own domestic records as were selected for preservation. In 1960 records of the Commissioners of Woods and their successors were removed from the Land Revenue Record Office's records in so far as they could be, and reclassified as records of the Crown Estate Commissioners. At the same time two series of records which formerly constituted a separate Woods and Forests group were reclassified as records of the Land Revenue Record Office.
