Folio 126: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Discussion with Mendonça Corte-Real, over the arrest of Capt. Olny R.N. (ff.81-87); the continual conflicts between Portuguese mob and British seamen; arms carried by Royal Naval boats' crews; the Caldas incident over Tyrawly's footman. Finds in all this that even Mendonça, `though doubtless, a most extreme good sort of man', is as evasive and crooked as any other Portuguese.
Date and place: 1731 Oct 19 Lisbon.
