Folio 97: Henry Worsley to James Stanhope. Has communicated to the Court King George's decision to back Portuguese pretensions in their peace negotiations with Spain. Congratulates him on his appointment as Secretary of State. Encloses copies of papers referring to Spanish military preparations (f.99), and a letter from Cadiz of the 15 Oct. (f.102). Death of King John's eldest son. Arrival of the Brazil Fleets, not so rich as usual owing to Inquisition's persecution of Luso-Brazilian Jews. French fishery off Newfoundland more prosperous than British.
