Medical journal of the Hindostan, hired convict ship, for 9 September 1840 to 26 January 1841 by Andrew Henderson, Surgeon Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in transporting 200 boy convicts and nine adults, 31 soldiers of the 96th Regiment to Tasmania or Van Diemen's Land.

Folios 17-18: case no 13, Matthew Bryan, aged 18, Convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, anthrax, a poor wretch whose multiple crimes and punishments were the result of intemperance in drinking he gave a great deal of trouble in the ship by his irregular conduct but his worn out and haggard appearance got him off from corporal punishment; put on sick list 10 December 1840, discharged 6 January 1841 off the list.

Folios 21-24: case no 15, John Johnson, aged 15, Convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, erysipelas; put on sick list 29 December 1840, landed 25 January 1841, the surgeon's note that he landed with 59 others at Hobart Town Van Diemens Land, the rest of the convicts landed at Point Peure, Port Arthur on 26 January 1841.

Folios 28-30: Surgeon's general remarks. The Hindostan carried 200 boys and 10 adults convicts from Sheerness to Hobart Town. Hindostan was fitted out at Deptford and embarked the Guard over convicts there on the 19 September 1840. Consisting of 30 rank and file and one Lieutenant (Barclay) of 96th Regiment all of them appeared in tolerably good health. The ship sailed from the Downs on 8 October 1840 and anchored in D'Entrecasteaux Channel on 17 January 1841, but did not reach Sulivan Cove, Hobart Town until 19 January 1841. Included in the remarks are tables showing the comparative results of the weighing of the prisoners at three different periods.
