Russian Empire (subsequently the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). 2 maps (of territory now in Poland, Finland and the countries formerly comprising the Soviet Union). (1) IDWO 1287b: showing the area between the Gulf of Bothnia, the Behring Strait, Tokyo (Japan) and the Persian Gulf. Lithographed at the War Office, November 1897; corrected January 1918. (2) ID 877f, revised as ID 995: showing only the area west of 100°E. Compiled at the War Office, December 1891; printed March 1905; revised July 1914, February 1916 (railways corrected) and January 1920. Both sheets overprinted, October 1923, to show various internal and external boundaries. Originally filed with 'Further correspondence respecting Russia, part viii, July to December 1923': correspondence number 11, from R M Hodgson, reporting on the present distribution of Russian territory among members of the [Soviet] Union, Moscow, July 1923. Dimensions: (1) 37.6 cm x 61 cm; (2) 63.8 cm x 86.4 cm.
