Description

2 items (formerly bound with Mr Hammond's despatch no 39 of 2 November 1792) extracted from FO 4/16. (1) 'Description of the City of Washington', from The Universal Asylum and Columbian Magazine, March 1792. (2) 'Plan of the City of Washington in the Territory of Columbia ceded by the States of Virginia and Maryland to the United States of America and by them established as the Seat of their Government after the year MDCCC'. Explanatory observations. Scale: 1 inch to 100 poles. Compass star. Engraved by Samuel Hill, Boston. Dimensions: 41.7 cm x 51.1 cm.
